Albert Garrell is an emerging choreographer in the contemporary dance scene. His creations focus on the exploration of critical and social concepts that delve into the complexities of the human being.
From the beginning of his career, he has mostly chosen to form teams with women and non-binary individuals for his productions, focusing on a process of learning and expansion, fostering diversity, and valuing the different perspectives and experiences of all the artists involved. He creates an inclusive and safe space where these varied experiences provide adaptive resources to meet the different learning needs.
His approach to creation is described as one that promotes self-exploration, encouraging each individual to explore their identity and express their thoughts and feelings, facilitating open dialogue, which in turn supports and contributes to a deeper, more meaningful understanding of personal and collective growth.

Trained at the IEA Oriol Martorell, the Institut del Teatre, and the Hamburg Ballet School in Germany, Albert Garrell began his career as a professional performer with the Jove Companyia of the Institut del Teatre, IT Dansa, before joining the foreign companies Introdans (Netherlands) and Staatstheater Wiesbaden (Germany).
Throughout his professional career, he has danced pieces by renowned choreographers such as: Alexander Ekman, Ohad Naharin, Jo Stromgen, Stijn Celis, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Gustavo Ramirez, Jiri Kylian, among others.

Since 2017, he has been involved in various independent projects, working as a dance teacher and choreographer for different institutions, both nationally and internationally. He is also the artistic director of his own collective, LAB3.14.
In 2022, Albert Garrell graduated from the Conservatorio Superior de Danza María de Ávila, Madrid, specializing in Performance and Choreography.

His first production, CHROMA, was a finalist in the 2017 Dance Awards at the Institut del Teatre. The piece was performed at the Mercat de les Flors, SAT Teatre Sant Andreu, and Teatre Can Gomà in Mollet del Vallès.
Recently, his work TENDER SKIN participated in the latest edition of the Dansa València 2024 Festival and in numerous choreographic competitions, including: 29MASDANZA, Gran Canaria; International Choreographic Contest Burgos-New York (Burgos); DanzaXtrema Choreographic Contest (Cáceres); Madrid Paso a dos Choreographic Contest (Madrid); SoloDuo Nrw + Friends Festival, Cologne (Germany), among others.
On the other hand, his first film production, STATE OF HOAX, was selected for the international video-dance festival TANZHOI, Hamburg, Germany, and was showcased at the creative and artistic space, LabCultural, in Barcelona.

Currently, his career as a choreographer continues to develop, having created pieces for the "Real Conservatorio de Danza Mariemma", Madrid, and soon at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, among other institutions.
